Veronica Barbosa
Chicago based Producer Director Educator
Veronica Barbosa is a Mexican producer, director, and educator based in Chicago’s South Side. Growing up in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, she developed a deep passion for storytelling that amplifies underrepresented voices and authentic experiences.
From short films to feature films to commercials, Veronica enjoys working at the intersection of creativity and logistics. She helps bring ideas to life while staying mindful of the details, leveraging her background in bookkeeping and accounting to support productions. Whether it’s budgeting, scheduling, or problem-solving on set, she works to keep things running as smoothly as possible, balancing creative vision with financial responsibility.
Beyond filmmaking, Veronica is dedicated to education. She teaches video production to high school students (ages 14-19) and Creative Producing at DePaul University, while also guest lecturing at Northwestern University. She is passionate about mentoring the next generation of filmmakers and fostering new voices in the industry.
When she’s not on set or in the classroom, she enjoys baseball, writing, exploring the outdoors, and spending time with her two cats, Ginny and Togo.
